Bird of Prey
Untitled (Vessel)
Generally I like to leave the explanation of my sculptures to the viewer; My concept for this piece, Is that the cast iron ‘vessel’ stands for ‘man’ and his capacity to acquire, and take what he desires. It can also be compared to an ossuary and our need to preserve that which we have at present, before it is too late.
The small bird bones represent nature and it’s vulnerability in the face of man’s greed.

Lunar Ties
Utilising the nature of cast Iron, the rusty circular form represents the orange moon that can be seen early at night. An orange Moon is caused by particles of dust and pollution in the Earth’s atmosphere, scattering light.
The chain is the connection to the Earth, with the movement of the tides being directly affected by the Moon’s gravitational pull.
The jawbone is a cast of that of a canine, which have links to wolves and obviously werewolves of folklore. The bone also stands for the life on Earth that relies on the Moon and all of its forces.

'Mechanis Canaria'
Title: Mechanis Canaria
Medium: Cast Bronze, steel bracket
'Mechanis Canaria' (detail)
'Mechanis Canaria' is a bronze sculpture
combining man-made, and animal parts.
The original was constructed using bits
from toys, plastic and a bird of prey skull.
A plaster mould was made of this 'model',
which allowed me to make a wax version.
The wax was 'invested' and I was then able
to make the final bronze sculpture. Finally
it has been 'chased' and 'patinated'.
