REMNANT 1

REMNANT 1: This piece was shown at Kidwelly castle as part of the 'castle/castell' exhibition during the summer of 2012.
The sculpture is made up of 16 cast iron panels bolted together. The inspiration for REMNANT 1 comes from my fascination with airfix models, de-commissioned tanks/aircraft and submarines.

Generally I like to leave the explanation of my sculptures to the viewer; My concept for this piece, Is that the cast iron ‘vessel’ stands for ‘man’ and his capacity to acquire, and take what he desires. It can also be compared to an ossuary and our need to preserve that which we have at present, before it is too late.

The small bird bones represent nature and it’s vulnerability in the face of man’s greed.
